Carrie Nimmo, RN, MSN, CNOR
Carrie Nimmo, RN, MSN, CNOR, is excited to join the MSSIC Coordinating Center Team and brings more than 20 years of nursing experience, with a career focused on improving spine surgery experience. Carrie began her nursing career as a circulating nurse in the operating room at Troy Beaumont Hospital, where she developed a passion for spine surgery and caring for the spine patient population. Over the years, that passion evolved into a vision of supporting patients throughout their entire surgical journey, from pre-operative preparation through post-operative recovery.
In 2020, Carrie earned her MSN with a focus in Nursing Education and joined Troy Beaumont Hospital as the Spine Coordinator. In that role, she worked closely with surgeons, surgical services, the inpatient interdisciplinary team and MSSIC to improve the care and outcomes of spine surgery patients through quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice. Most recently, Carrie has enjoyed working as a MSSIC Data Abstractor, collaborating with surgeons and Henry Ford team members on quality improvement projects. She is excited to continue that work in her new role with the MSSIC Coordinating Center and looks forward to contributing to the shared goal of continually improving the spine surgery experience.
Outside of work, Carrie can usually be found at a lacrosse field or hockey rink supporting her two very active children. She and her husband have been married for nearly 20 years and have two children, ages 17 and 14. Their daughter is entering her senior year, and the family is excited to see where her hard work takes her next. Carrie enjoys spending time with family in Northern Michigan and Massachusetts, reading, and learning enough about lacrosse to hopefully understand what is happening during the games!
